What is PSID?

PSID (Payment Slip ID) is a unique **17-digit number** generated by the FBR for tax payments. It acts as a digital reference for online payments.

How to Pay FBR Tax Using PSID in Pakistan

Paying your FBR tax using a PSID is a straightforward three-step process. First, log in to the FBR IRIS portal at iris.fbr.gov.pk and navigate to the Payments section. Select the relevant tax head — for example, Income Tax (account code 6011100) or Withholding Tax — enter the exact amount you owe, and submit the payment request. The system immediately generates a unique 17-digit Payment Slip ID (PSID). In the second step, take this PSID to any authorized bank branch, or use your mobile banking app (such as HBL Mobile, MCB, Meezan Bank), JazzCash, or Easypaisa to complete the payment. In the third step, once payment is confirmed, the transaction reflects in your FBR IRIS account automatically within 24-48 hours.

PSID Payment Methods — Banks, JazzCash, and Easypaisa

A PSID generated on FBR IRIS can be paid through multiple channels, making tax payment convenient for all taxpayers across Pakistan. Major commercial banks including HBL, MCB, UBL, Meezan Bank, Allied Bank, and National Bank accept PSID payments both over-the-counter at branches and through their internet/mobile banking platforms. Digital wallets including JazzCash and Easypaisa also support PSID payments directly from their apps under the "Pay Bills" or "Government Payments" section. The PSID is valid for 7 days after generation — if it expires, a new PSID must be generated from IRIS before making payment.

Common FBR Tax Heads and Account Codes

When generating a PSID on FBR IRIS, you must select the correct tax head and account code for your payment type. Income Tax payments use account code 6011100, Withholding Tax on salary uses 6011115, Withholding Tax on services uses 6011119, and advance income tax uses 6011102. Sales Tax registered persons use separate codes under the Sales Tax head. Selecting the wrong account code can result in the payment being credited to the wrong head, requiring a manual correction request through FBR — so always verify the code before submitting.

What Happens After PSID Payment?

After successfully paying a PSID, the payment is reflected in your FBR IRIS account as a credit against the relevant tax head. You can verify your payment status by logging into IRIS and checking the Payment History section. The paid amount becomes adjustable against your annual income tax liability when you file your income tax return. Keep the bank receipt or digital payment confirmation as proof of payment, as FBR may request it during any tax audit or verification process.
